New Work
So last week, MaryJo was driving me to school. Suddenly she screamed, "Oh My Gosh! Look!" On the cover of the Flagpole (Athens event announcement magazine type thing) was the painting I did of MaryJo. It was kind of shocking really because I hadn't applied to be on the cover nor did they notify me. We pulled over and grabbed a bunch. It was a cool way to start the day.
Anyhow, I am applying for a scholarship tomorrow so I had to take a bunch of slides of my studio work. The animals I posted a while ago were just accepted in a gallery this week. When I brought my drawings to the gallery they had reserved that spot for me. Pretty good real estate. The gallery is awesome. The wall opposing those drawings is all windows overlooking a pond and the rest of the Athens Academy.
This is a picture of the current project I'm working on. The drawing is unfinished here. It is about 24 feet by 50 inches right now but will be closer to 30 feet when it is completed. It is based on the European game of goose or Gioco Della Oca and Hopscotch. I've changed the title to Gioco Della Occhio or Game of the Eye. The notes to this drawing are longer than the drawing itself so I'll just leave it at that. It is the culmination of weeks of research that doesn't seem to add up to much. I just thought there were too many points of intersection to ignore. I'm really going to try to stick with this idea of Hopscotch for a while. I always tend to get bored with one topic and just quickly move to a different one. Is Jared Sinclair around anymore? I have a proposal for him.
